Organization

Wilmington

Sustainable Shorelines is a newly conceived nonprofit, educational and advocacy corporation.  Upon attaining its official incorporation, it is applying for its tax exempt 501(c)(3) status.

Its corporate structure provides for a Board of Directors to oversee the overall direction of the organization and to set operating policies.  The Board also is to assist in fund raising and publicizing the organization.  The number, terms and selection process for the members of the Board are to be determined by its bylaws.

Initially, Sustainable Shorelines is to have one employee, its Director, who is responsible for day-to-day operations and management of the corporations resources.  As these resources develop, additional personnel may be employed to better meet, even expand, the  goals of the organization.  Additionally, consultants may be employed on an as required basis.

Sustainable Shorelines is also to have a Board of Advisors.  This Board is specifically tasked with assisting the Directors and the Director in setting goals for the organization while helping it gain influence to meet these goals.  Each member of the Board of Advisors should be selected for his or her prominence as related to the use, preservation or management of coastal resources.
